There are many talented children in rural India with lot of potential and zeal to study and achieve. They are just like many of us but are missing quality education because of their family financial constraints.
Vidyateertha is an initiative which started in 2010, aimed at identifying economically weak but talented children from rural areas and helping them to fulfill their dream to have quality education. The team was supported by Smayate® which has been involved in providing basic education for rural children since many years now.
The initiative has taken good shape by identifying talented students near Hunsur Town, Mysore District, Karnataka. Vidyateertha has identified and helped a few students over the years who want to continue their studies in a good school. We have opted for St. Joseph’s Higher Primary School, one of the best one in and around Hunsur town. All volunteers of Vidyateertha are the alumnus of this school.
Students have been identified purely based on their past academic records. We have been closely interacting with teachers from various schools in Hunsur Taluk region to identify right students to absorb them under this scholarship initiative. St Josephs School, Hunsur is supporting this initiative from Vidyatheertha team and is very supportive towards this noble cause. Students need to qualify the eligibility criteria defined by the school. School authorities interview parents to understand the support from family on a regular basis.
Vidyateertha is committed to support student’s educational needs which includes admission charges, monthly school fees, books, stationeries, uniform and bus passes for 3 years of their High School education. The team tracks their performance continuously and guides them in their studies.

Each of these students has refused to allow poverty to win. These students would like to continue their higher studies and build a bright future. They wish to build a career for themselves and thereby support their families for which they are looking for help. Sponsoring these young students will help them to fulfill their wish.
Future Goals:
- To identify more rural children and extend our help to more economically needy children in that area.
- Vidyateertha Team will review student’s development and take the necessary steps.
